THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED.
In honor of Marjorie’s release of Darkness Calls today, I’m giving away one copy of The Iron Hunt.
From Barnes and Noble:
Silver smoke winds around my torso, peeling away from my ribs and back, stealing the dark mist covering my hands and lower extremities . . . tattoos dissolving into demon flesh, coalescing into small dark bodies. My boys. The only friends I have in this world. Demons.
I am a demon hunter. I am a demon. I am Hunter Kiss.
By day, her tattoos are her armor. By night, they unwind from her body to take on forms of their own. Demons of the flesh, turned into flesh. This is the only family demon hunter Maxine Kiss has ever known. The only way to live-and the very way she’ll die. For one day, her demons will abandon her for her daughter to assure their own survival-leaving Maxine helpless against her enemies.
But such is the way of Earth’s last protector-the only one standing between humanity and the demons breaking out from behind the prison veils. It is a life lacking in love, reveling in death, until one moment-and one man-changes everything . . .
Along with the book, the winner will also receive a flask necklace inspired by Kim MacDougall’s book Luminari and some author swag. (Thanks to Kim for donating the necklace!)
I’m limiting this to the US only due to shipping costs (sorry international readers). Since I’m sending it myself, PO Boxes are fine.

From Barnes & Noble:
For as long as she can remember, they were Cam and Lilly–happily married, totally in love with each other, parents of a beautiful family, and partners in life. Then, after decades of marriage, it ended as every great love story does…in loss. After Cam’s death, Lilly takes a lone road trip to her and Cam’s favorite spot on the remote coast of Maine, the place where they fell in love over and over again, where their ghosts still dance. There, she looks hard to her past–to a first love that ended in tragedy; to falling in love with Cam; to a marriage filled with exuberance, sheer life, and safety– to try to figure out her future.
It is a journey begun with tender memories and culminating in a revelation that will make Lilly re-evaluate everything she thought was true about her husband and her marriage.
Thanks to Valerie at Hachette, I have permission to give out 5 copies of Off Season by Anne Rivers Siddons.
Giveaway ends July 17 at midnight EST. Only open to residents of the US and Canada, no PO Boxes. Sorry international readers 😦

Synarchy Blog Tour
Synarchy Book 1: The Awakening by DCS
Publisher: SVT Publishing, LLC
Released: May 22, 2008
From DCS’ website:
A plan is exposed, centuries in the making and so sinister not even the legend himself could have predicted the depth of its impact on the world. In his lifetime Stefano Terenzio had a merciless ambition for absolute power. Two generations later the shock wave he ignited was still being felt. Now, as the world inches closer to 2012 sides are chosen, families divide and an epic battle begins that will determine whether mankind continues existing in a world of lies or shatters the chains that have held us prisoner since history was written.
“I will die to see my will done, and it will be done.”
Shocking yet hopeful, Synarchy slowly unravels the tightly laced reality we have created for ourselves. Blending the metaphysical with conspiracy, fact with fiction, debut author DCS has opened up a world that will force you to rethink everything you believe about your own. The knowledge within provokes the question: do you really want to know?
It’s hard to describe this book without giving away too much plot information and spoilers, but I’ll do my best 🙂
The reader follows the lives of multiple characters, most of them being from the Terenzio family. The Terenzios sort of remind me of a major Mafia family, in that they hold their territory with an iron fist. But, many conflicts have torn the family apart, some turning traitorous against each other.
At the beginning we see Marcello Terenzio on his death bed, speaking to his grandchildren (they’re triplets). He sends the triplets on a mission to uncover the truth of The Awakening and behind Earth, with The Brotherhood and traitorous Terenzios trying to stop them.
This book is very layered and complex. Although it can sometimes be daunting to read a book so complex, DCS writes Synarchy so that doesn’t become an issue. This is a great book filled with mystery, action, and intrigue. It’s very detailed and a quick read. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!
Rating: 4/5 stars
